Koi Pond Aeration

Monday, February 11th, 2008

By Robert Dorrance To achieve Koi pond aeration, there are some things you can do. One, you can go to your local hobby store or pet supply store and purchase one of those small air pumps, hook some tubing to it, along with an air diffuser or sometimes called an air stone, and place it in your pond. I still have the original one I bought about eight years ago, and its still working. This has run for almost eight years non-stop, they are very durable. It works two fold, one, to supply air to the pond water and, two, it helps to keep a hole open in the ice during the winter. Another way to obtain Koi pond aeration is to have different kinds of under water pond plants such as Anacharis and Hornwort. These plants will grow and spread out very well under water. Just kind of put them in small bunches in the bottom of your pond. Just so you know if your plant them in some kind of pot, chances are very good that your Koi will pull them out. Koi are always tugging and uprooting something. Waterfalls also provide a great way to help aerate the Koi pond. By constantly having water running down a waterfall and crashing into the pond, will help naturally aerate it. The combination of all the above suggestions will give you the results you need for proper Koi pond aeration. Robert Dorrance has had a pond for the last eight years and would like to share his experiences with you. Be sure to come by and download the free e-book, How To Build A Beautiful Backyard Pond. Changing The Fate Of Retail Investors!

Sunday, February 10th, 2008

By Virendra Agarwal India faces a huge gap between demand and supply of high quality talent in the financial market. With Indian GPD growing at 8-9% and financial markets on a boom, BLB group see this as a golden opportunity to impart real-time training to educate the 1.1 billion population, involve their greater participation in and enhance their profitability from the financial markets. Sensex has become a barometer of countrys performance and there is no escape from the Capital Markets. Sensex and Nifty indices reflects company performance immediately through their stock prices. Market efficiency has been improving and now is the time for people to learn safe investment techniques so that even the common man can take advantage of highly lucrative returns that the Indian markets have to offer today. But, this calls for sound theoretical and practical knowledge. A country, where only 5% of savings go into the Capital Markets for investment definitely needs much greater participation from the investor and traders community. This percentage is insignificant compared to similar percentage for US of 60% !! Our markets run up and down on FII calls mainly with very little domestic participation from retail investors. This happens because retail investors our not educated properly about the risk and returns of the Indian Capital Markets. These people usually end up buying and selling at the wrong time and end up losing money, while FIIs and other sophisticated investors make a killing!! Why cant retail investors do the same? The answer lies in information asymmetry where retail people buy mostly on rumors and without any proper financial research or practical knowledge of how to avoid unnecessary risks in investment. This calls for creating Institutions in the country where people can learn basic dynamics of the market essential to know if one wants to make money here. India does not have such institutes but badly needs it. Recently, BLB group, a known investment-trading-research corporate house has launched its Institute of Financial Markets called BIFM. BIFM is empowered with market specialists and eminent faculty to teach about financial markets, giving its students cutting-edge trading skills and preparing them to be intelligent investors and traders. It has a presence in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata and provides real-time trading knowledge. Their Learn-by-doing approach emphasizes on practical training, making the courses unique in their content and approach. It involves training through sophisticated simulated and live trading software developed in-house by BLB team. BIFM specializes in training programs for gaining expertise in the Stock Market Market Derivative Market Commodity Markets Equity Investment and Portfolio Analysis Through such practical and job-oriented courses, one can seriously study and better understand the financial markets. Retail investors must go for such practical courses for developing sound investing and trading skills. Unusual Signs and Wonders Today? - True Incident

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

By Renae Patterson In the year 2002, the state of Texas, didnt issue social security numbers, birth, or death certificates to parents of stillborn babies. On October 25 2002, my third daughter was stillborn In TX. The realization I wouldnt be given any official documents left me numb. I reasoned the rest of the world considered my childs life and death were insignificant. My nine long months of pregnancy, the pain of labor, and delivery was all in vain and the baby had no identity. About a month after her funeral, I found an internet company that created unofficial certificates of life for stillborn babies. I immediately gave them my babys information- her DOB, weight, time of birth, length, hospital name, and placed the order. A week or so passed, and I received a package in the mail with the companys name imprinted on the front. I tore into the package and pulled out a Certificate of Life with my babys information written in beautiful calligraphy. At last, something to acknowledge her existence. The certificate looked almost identical to my other two daughters birth certificates. At the time, I was a work- at- home mom with a lot of free time on my hands (at least while my older girls were in school), so I decided to use my free time learning to write in calligraphy (inspired by the beautiful handwriting on the certificate). Learning something new was therapeutic during this grieving period, but the pain of her loss was still fresh. I had to rely solely on God to help during the weak and lonely moments. I knew I had to pray, listen to the Holy Spirit and read my bible. I searched the scriptures night and day for answers, and the Holy Spirit was finally able to calm my spirit. He reminded me of Gods grace, and Gods grace was sufficient for me. Now that I was experiencing peace, I began asking my husband what he thought about trying to have another baby. He said he wasnt sure. He wanted to try again, however he thought it was too soon. (It had only been about 4 months). He was afraid something terrible could happen again. He also made the comment Im just too old to have anymore children. True, he is older than I am, but I believe he only said this out of fear of the unknown. I disagreed about the age comment, but decided not to push the issue any further (because I knew he was still grieving too). I continued practicing my calligraphy, praying and reading scriptures. On March 7, 2003, five months after the funeral, I picked up my bible and prayed, asking the Lord to direct me to the scripture He would have me read. Leaving my bible open, I decided to wait and see if the Holy Spirit would give me scripture guidance. While waiting for an answer, I noticed my calligraphy pen and paper sitting on the table in front of me. I picked up the pen (thinking I might take notes on my bible study), but as I pressed the pen down on the paper, no ink came out. I shook the pen, tried to get the ink to come out, but nothing. Frustrated with my pen, I shook it harder and tapped it against my leg. Finally, I saw ink starting to flow through the end. As I placed the pen on paper, the ink flowing from the tip of the pen made a dark impression on the page that looked like the number 2 with the letter K next to it. How Strange I thought. I put the lid back on the pen and placed it back down on the table. As I picked up the bible, I scanned through the contents page, trying to decide which book to read. I looked at the bibles contents, then, glanced back at the paper with the 2K on it. My mind made a strange connection. The connection was between the 2K marking on the paper, and the bible book 2nd Kings. That was it! I needed to read 2nd Kings. I began flipping through the pages and finally made it to 2nd Kings Chapter 1. As I began reading, I discovered I had never read this book. When I made it to Chapter 4:8, I read these words: One day Elisha went to Shunem and a well-to-do woman was there, who urged him to stay for a meal. So whenever he came by, he stopped there to eat. [9] She said to her husband, “I know that this man who often comes our way is a holy man of God. [10] Let’s make a small room on the roof and put in it a bed and a table, a chair and a lamp for him. Then he can stay there whenever he comes to us.” 2KI 4:11 One day when Elisha came, he went up to his room and lay down there. [12] He said to his servant Gehazi, “Call the Shunammite.” So he called her, and she stood before him. [13] Elisha said to him, “Tell her, `You have gone to all this trouble for us. Now what can be done for you? Can we speak on your behalf to the king or the commander of the army?’ ” She replied, “I have a home among my own people.” 2KI 4:14 “What can be done for her?” Elisha asked. Gehazi said, “Well, she has no son and her husband is old.” 2KI 4:15 Then Elisha said, “Call her.” So he called her, and she stood in the doorway. [16] “About this time next year,” Elisha said, “you will hold a son in your arms.” “No, my lord,” she objected. “Don’t mislead your servant, O man of God!” 2KI 4:17 But the woman became pregnant, and the next year about that same time she gave birth to a son, just as Elisha had told her. After reading these words, I knew in my heart this message was for me, and my situation. The Spirit reminded me of the writings that appeared to Daniel (see Daniel 5:5). Why would God bless me with a son? I had already given birth to three girls and my husband had a girl from a previous marriage. It would seem impossible we would ever have a son, but I claimed these scriptures for myself and kept them in my heart. On January 19, 2004, I gave birth to a healthy 7lb 12 oz baby boy approximately 46 weeks after reading 2Kings (Note: An average pregnancy from conception to due date takes approx 40 weeks). Was this just a coincidence? I dont think so. To my husband and I, this incident was a gracious sign from the Lord, a gift, and miracle I didnt ask for or expect. (I assumed I would never have a son). My conclusion: Is it possible God still moves in peoples lives the way He did in the bible? Of course he does. Jesus Christ is Alive. God still does amazing things as signs for us. He also does many things outside of His Word, just never contrary to His Word. John said in John 21:25- Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written. Am I being arrogant because I believe He can bless me in the same way He blessed the Shunamite woman in 2nd Kings? I dont think so, the people of the bible were just men/women, just like you and I. God uses the weak to confound the strong. We shouldnt glorify any people in the bible; they were nothing but clay in the hands of The Potter. Millions of people around the world from all different backgrounds find miracle healing, forgiveness and love through Jesus in our day! What the Lord did for others, he can still do for you. He is no respecter of persons. Should it surprise a true believer in God that God is working miracles and showing signs of His power today? According to the Bible, “Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). If Jesus was ever a miracle worker, He is today. Did He ever say He would stop doing miracles? To deny miracles, is to mock prayer today, since even the slightest true answer to prayer involves a measure of divine intervention. God can do whatever He wants at any time. Jesus is not dead. He is a risen savior- our high priest. While there is order in the Universe, there is also plenty of room for the direct involvement of God’s Spirit. You can choose to believe or deny this story if you want. Im going to get my son, hold him in my arms, praise God, and give Him the glory. Taking Care of Your RC Nitro Cars

Friday, February 8th, 2008

By Greg Root Learning the basics of rc engine operations and proper maintenance will lengthen the life of your RC nitro cars and help you keep your vehicles in top shape. RC Nitro Engines The RC nitro cars engine works very similar to a regular car engine. There are several parts of the engine that require attention for your vehicle to work at peak performance. Here are the main components RC vehicles rely on for efficient driving and the preventative maintenance you should take. Fuel and Fuel Lines The fuel used by RC nitro engines is a combination of nitro methane and a synthetic or castor oil lubricant. You must use the proper fuel combination for your vehicle. If your RC car is running poorly you need to examine the fuel system. Cracks or debris in the fuel lines may cause the engine to cut out. It is advantageous to check your vehicles fuel lines each time before running it. Clean out dirty lines. If you find problems consult your user manual before operating the vehicle. Air Filter The air filter is an essential component to your engine. The air filter clears out dirt and debris from the engine which permits it to run smoothly. If the air filter becomes clogged then dirt and heat will get trapped in the engine making it work harder to draw air in. This can substantially affect its performance or even damage the engine. Air filters can often be cleaned rather than replaced. If the air filter in the model you own is very expensive to replace you may wish to clean the existing air filter carefully and reuse it. Weighing the costs of an engine repair (if the cleaning is not thorough) with the costs of a replacement filter may be wise when determining the value of replacement versus cleaning. Tuning the Engine While nitro engines can be more difficult to set up than their electric counterparts they also allow for the operator to adjust the engine and the vehicles performance. The carburetor permits you to adjust the amount of air/fuel mixture that is being used by the engine. A low mix of fuel is called lean while a high ratio of fuel to air is rich. Making small adjustments to the mix according to the driving conditions will fine tune the driving. On the other hand you need to be cautious that the mixture is not too lean or rich as this can damage the engine. Tires Check the tires on your RC nitro cars before putting them out on the track. Check that they are balanced following the instructions in your users manual. This is especially important during the initial setup. Testing Whenever you are putting an RC car on the road for the first time or after it has been shelved for awhile you should test the vehicle and tune it before running it fast or on rough terrain. After driving the vehicle check it for debris. Make sure the parts move freely and have not become clogged with mud or dust. Running the vehicle without ensuring it is clean can cause costly damage to the engine or other parts. Talk to experts about the recommended upkeep necessary for your chosen vehicle. Some models will have more expensive maintenance costs than others and may be a factor to consider when choosing your vehicle. Choosing a Greenhouse

Friday, February 8th, 2008

By Philip Swindells Greenhouses are available in all shapes and sizes, and take forms that vary from the conservatory to an enclosed glass porch around the front door. All are very useful for the hobby gardener and can accommodate a surprisingly large number of plants of all kinds. Modern greenhouses basically come in four forms; the lean-to, in which one wall is formed by the home or other substantial building; the span roof type, which is built on a dwarf wall and has a pitched roof; the Dutch light kind, formerly constructed of Dutch lights but in the modern form a glass-to-ground greenhouse, and the hexagonal type that is, broadly speaking, dome-shaped but with angular sides. All have their adherents, but it is generally conceded that the span roof type of greenhouse proves to be the most versatile when a wide range of plants are to be grown. Greenhouses can be constructed from many different materials. Polyethylene structures are cheap to purchase initially, but need re-covering every two years and in winter will often suffer wind or snow damage. Those made from corrugated acrylic sheet are little better, cracking and discoloring with the weather, although polycarbonate materials are more durable and can be recommended. Glass is obviously the most satisfactory option, but the best material for the framework is more difficult to decide. Cedar and teak that are kept well oiled are obviously ideal, but very expensive, while ordinary softwood painted white looks good but has a very limited life. Aluminium would seem to be the best answer as it does not rust, but with some greenhouses the bolts and screws holding the structure together are made from steel and are liable to corrode. So inspect any intended purchase of this kind very carefully, and select an all aluminium model. Ideally staging should be provided at waist height down either side of the greenhouse and a shelf near the ridge is very useful if this can be kept above head height. Ventilation must be adequate and most gardeners agree that both side and ridge ventilators are essential for proper airing during the summer months. A good wide door is necessary for easy management. It should be wide enough to take a wheel-barrow without skinning your fingers and with no troublesome step or ramp. Heating is desirable, but may be prohibitively expensive. If you do decide to heat your greenhouse then purchase an electrical fan heater. Not only does this provide warmth, but it also circulates the air on damp days in the fall. In the summer the fan can be switched to the cool air position to reduce the high temperatures and provide air circulation. Propane gas and kerosene heaters, although very reliable, are not so desirable as they produce a damp heat, and by virtue of their mode of operation do not readily circulate the air. If you are able to afford to heat your greenhouse, it also makes sense to insulate it to minimize heat loss. There are many methods of doing this, but the clear plastic bubble insulation material now available is simple to fix and rarely causes any problems with condensation. Clear polyethylene has always been considered to be the most suitable insulation, causing minimal reduction in light and trapping a barrier of air. However, it has always been associated with condensation, a build up of light-reducing algae, and a fragility which is not so evident in modern clear bubble insulation. Whatever insulation you choose, it is important when fastening it to the internal structure of the greenhouse that provision is made for the opening of ventilators. Insulation may well still be useful at night during spring, but on sunny days the temperature will soar and full ventilation may be necessary. If you cannot afford to heat your greenhouse, then consider investing in either a small propagator or a heated bench. Both are very useful and give the greenhouse much greater versatility. Correct siting of the greenhouse is vital if plants are to develop properly. Choose an open part of the garden in full sun. It is a simple matter to shade a modern small greenhouse if the sun becomes too bright. The uncontrollable shade of a tree or building on the other hand can lead to very poor and disappointing plant growth. Philip Swindells has over 40 years gardening experience. A former botanical garden curator and an international horticultural consultant, he has worked extensively in the UK, North America, the Middle East and Australia. The Author of more than 50 gardening books, he has been awarded a Quill and Trowel Award by the Garden Writers Association of America. He is also a former UK Garden Writer of the Year. Meals And Advice To Help People To Lose Weight And To Stay Trim

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

By Steve Hill This article is aimed at helping people to lose weight and to then keep at their new happier size. I am going to give tips about what type of meals people should be eating and about other simple ways to help stay trim and fit. Many people find that after successfully dieting for a number of months and putting themselves through a lot of hardship to gain their target weight, that after only a few weeks they return back to the weight they started at. Some even find that they have added additional weight. This can make people feel quite depressed and even with a sense of guilt at their apparant failure. I know from my own personal experiences just how hard it can be to lose weight and to stop eating some of our favourite foods such as crisps and chocolate. I am happy to report that I have now managed to achieve my ideal weight and just as importantly have kept at this weight for more than twelve months. A number of simple ideas can have huge benefits over the longer term. One such idea was to give a dog a home, I love dogs anyway but they can provide a superb and enjoyable form of exercice when you take them on their regular walks. Other simple ideas are to walk the stairs instead of using a lift, walking home from certain places instead of catching the bus or driving our car and playing a sport such as football or tennis once a week. I am a person who loves sport and therefore am lucky as it did not take a lot of motivation to encourage me to start playing tennis after eight years away from the sport. I now even run an under sevens football team which is also a good way to keep those excess pounds off. Types Of Meals To Help Lose Weight Breakfast Eating breakfast is very important as it helps to wake up the metabolism. I would advise choosing a high fibre cerial possibly with a piece of fruit. Snacks Where possible it would be best to cut out in between meal snacks from our diet altogether. This is not easy however as I have found when attempting to lose weight myself. If you have to eat snacks, I would advise either a low fat yoghurt or a piece or two of fruit. I also have become quite partial to carrot sticks. Main meals Eating certian types of fish such as mackerel, sardines or salmon is always recommended for people who want to start eating in a more healthy manner. I would also advise pasta type meals in a tomato based sauce rather than in a cream based sauce. Having vegetables or salad with your meal instead of chips is also an idea which should not really need to be mentioned due to the fact that most people should be aware of it. I wish you every success at reaching your ideal weight.
